[Solved] Users can't enrol via paypal after upgrade was created by Lisa Norman
Sorry for repeated questions. The site looks good...but it isn't functioning.
When I click on the paypal link to enroll in a class (from within Joomla wrapper), it says it is routing me to paypal, but doesn't go anywhere. The wrapper returns blank. The link is:
www.mysite.com/index.php?option=com_joom...ourse&id=68&Itemid=7
I've looked and all classes have enrollment method set up. Moodle shows paypal and correct information.
I'm sure I've missed a step somewhere. But as I've said in other messages, my brain is just fried. I'm going to sleep on it and see if any clarity comes in the morning. I'll appreciate any help you can offer.

I undertsand that you are using Moodle paypal to sell the courses, and not any joomla e-comerce extenson, as I assumed in your other post.
If you get a blank page, check web server error log to see if there is something there that gives a clue.

Sorry, I had missed your reply earlier. Yes, I think you're pointing out the right thing to me.
I was reading this;
Selling courses through Moodle's Paypal
First, make sure Paypal payments are working from Moodle. Refer to Moodle docs for more details docs.moodle.org/en/Paypal
Then, enable the Paypal button in the Detail View settings in Joomdle configuration. This will show a Paypal button in Course Detail View.
When the user clicks, he will be redirected to Paypal to complete payment.
But I see that is for Joomdle 0.8. Is this setting not available in 0.9? Do I need to install Tienda?
I'm thinking this is where I'm lost. I've verified that Joomdle seems to be working fine (fantastic). Users can enroll via Moodle paypal. I just have to get them in there to enroll.

If you are using Moodle's Paypal you will not need Tienda, VM or Hikashop.
Did you have any error messages in the web log?
I am a little confused by this statement "Users can enroll via Moodle paypal. I just have to get them in there to enroll." If they cannot get there how can they pay? Are you suggesting that they see the course in Joomla and the pay button. Payment is successfully made using Moodle Paypal and then nothing else happens?

Chris,
Sorry for being confusing. Let me see if I can clarify. In Moodle, we have a page that uses the Joomdle template to list the courses. (Joomdle » Course Category) -- this shows the classes and gives information about them. I can click through the course list to view information about the course.
But there is no button to enroll or pay for the class.
Looking at the Joomdle settings, I don't see the option to show the enrollment or payment button like the documentation for 0.8 shows.
I also have a link to the moodle installation in a wrapper. If students go in through that link, they can see the classes and register there. This is essentially paying through Moodle, right? Not through Joomdle, because it is just a wrapper.
What I had before (I thought...but we were back on 0.6) was a paypal button on the course description through the course category.
I'm wondering if there is a way to have that payment button there, on that page. It would be just one less step (well, several less, actually) for the students.
They're managing it and enrolling, but I worry that we may be losing some along the way.
Does that make sense? My brain is just starting to recover from this upgrade. Moodle throws me every time.

You need to Select "Paypal" as the button for paid courses, in joomdle config in Joomla.

So, I turned that on and nothing changed. No action buttons showing on the detail pages at all. I wonder if there is something wrong with my html templates. At one point we'd done a bunch of template over-rides and I did bring some of those forward with me.
Does the Joomdle paypal button (assuming I can ever get it to show up) take the settings from Moodle now? (As in -- what email address to use for payment?)
I did have that set wrong, but even now that it is set to Paypal, it is not showing the button.
Students can enroll via the Moodle pages directly, so we're not having a crisis...I'd just like to get that working.
Thanks again for all your help!

Yes, it would use the Moodle paypal email.
I don't know why your button is not showing, if the course has a cost set in the paypal erolment method.

It does have a cost set in the paypal enrolment method. That's how folks are enrolling via paypal in moodle. They just can't enrol in the joomla end.
I'll have to dig deeper now that things are settling down with the site.

AHA!
I finally figured it out. Since no one else was having the problem and y'all didn't recognize it, I figured it must be something I'd done.
We have a series of customized templates that we'd used on Joomdle 0.6 -- which I brought forward. I'd noticed a couple of things didn't quite look right, but visual details are lower on my list of priorities. Today I was thinking about those and I realized that handling of things like the text and the buttons might have changed significantly from 0.6 to 0.9.
I put back the original 0.9 detail template and poof -- buttons. And they work.
Thanks for your help! I'll try to stop breaking it now.
